Circles Origin

The Origin

Circle-making as daily practice comes from the work of Winky Wheeler and Meshi Chavez, master teachers in movement as spiritual practice.

Circle-making was originally one small part of a year-long movement workshop called Where I Stand is Sacred. They were so popular that many people continued doing the daily circles long after the workshop ended. Years later, another workshop was born: Momentum of Habitude, which focused on the circles along with movement, and allowed participants to share the experience more fully.

There’s way more to circle-making when it’s done with a group in one of their workshops. I don’t want to give that brilliance away. Luckily the basics are available to anyone anytime to do on their own.
