About Me

I’m a girl who grew up in conventional middle-class suburbia but was surrounded by the very cool culture of post-hippie 1970s San Francisco and Oakland (as seen on tv and heard on the radio, as well as through all the post-hippie adults in my life). It permeated everything and affected my outlook on life.

My folks were from the Chicago area who had the opportunity to leave winter snow and summer humidity behind for life in California in early 1960s – when the South Bay was still mostly apricot groves and not Silicon Valley.

I have one brother who is not only three years older than me but also low-functioning autistic. That made for a different type of childhood from everyone else! (My bro by the way was featured on the show, "In Search Of" back in 1979, hosted by Leonard Nimoy of Star Trek fame. The episode is called "In Search Of... Brain Power". He's at 7:44)

I went north for college, fell in love with the Pacific Northwest, and never left.
My career has been very non-linear: from commercial printing then web design, to professional organizing then move management (an offshoot of organizing).

I married, had a son, got divorced. My son grew up to be an amazing human being who’s now married to another amazing human being. And I have an amazing partner, going on more than a decade. Feeling so grateful.

The first record I ever owned was the Beatle’s “Red Album”, a collection of their music from 1962-1966 which I got for Christmas in third grade (age 8), along with my first record player.

The first concert I ever saw was The Who at the Oakland Coliseum my junior-year of high school (age 16). Exhilarating.

I was a radio DJ in college. My first radio show was called “The ABC’s of Rock and Roll” where I played a different letter for each show, starting with the letter “A” (Marc Almond, Art of Noise, King Sunny Adé, etc).

I speak some German after spending my junior year of college in Vienna, Austria (though my current level of ability could best be described as “Kinder Deutsch”).

I love being in nature, especially with my mate – hiking, backpacking, camping, or just sitting and staring at things in the middle of nowhere. Heaven! I love walking & talking with friends; biking; eating great food, and dancing as spiritual practice (and as playful fun!).

My mission in life is to bring healing to male/female relations. Ask me how – I dare you!
